Social Activities in Florence College One
All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Florence by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the college.
Your stay in Florence should be memorable for a multitude of reasons, including your own voyage of discovery of the city and all that it has to offer. To enable students to take full advantage of the opportunities available, the school provides a monthly calendar of cultural activities, detailing the range of sports (where you can participate or be a spectator) local exhibitions, concerts, films etc available.
Each month the college makes special arrangements to enable students to gain the most from their stay in Florence, a dinner in a "trattoria" for students and teachers, free guided History of Art visits (every week) and free Cinema Italiano at the college once a fortnight. In addition, every two weeks a full day excursion will be offered on a Saturday or Sunday, to Siena & San Gimignano, or Pisa & Lucca and a half-day excursion to the wine yards of the "Chianti" area.
You can arrange a college student card once at the college, which entitles you to reduction on public transport, museums and in various restaurants and bars in Florence
The college arranges a minimum of two activities per week. Twice a month, they offer a whole-day excursion out of Florence.
For those who want to explore Florence's night life we recommend students purchase the "Firenze Spettacolo" magazine, published monthly, which lists the latest information regarding exhibitions, the newest bars and clubs etc. A lot of the articles are translated into English (so the guide is of use, whatever your current level of Italian).
A sample of a Week's cultural programme:
Monday: Free time after the introductory talk at the beginning of the month.
Tuesday: A guided visit of some of the wonderful Art History in Florence with a college teacher.
Wednesday: Dinner in a "trattoria" for teachers and students.
Thursday: Free time.
Friday: A night out for college students in one of Florence's nightclubs.
Saturday: A full day excursion e.g. Siena & San Gimignano.
Sunday: Free time.
