Social Activities in Nice
All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Nice by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the college. The wide range of attractions - day or night - in the city ensures Nice is a stimulating and provocative backdrop for your experience of France and French life.
The college guides will of course ensure you see the better known attractions such as the Matisse museum and the Chagall museum, and the nearby towns of Antibes and Cannes, the Isles de Lerins or the principality of Monaco. Visits are offered accompanied by a college guide, but at extra cost, students are of course welcome to explore Nice and its region on their own, and many choose to do so.
In addition however the college wants you to try out the less well known activities that the Nicoise themselves enjoy, wandering through the daily flower market; or simply exploring the hidden corners of old Nice that the average tourist never gets to see.
Do not forget to bring a couple of passport photos of yourself so that you can arrange a college student card, which entitles you to reduction on public transport, some cinemas and museums etc!
The college arranges a number of activities each week, depending on the number of participants and the weather. Once a week a French film is shown at the college, an evening trip out is arranged to visit a restaurant, the theatre, bowling or to attend a beach party etc.
At the weekend an excursion is arranged, boating to Monaco or the Iles de Lerins, or a day out by coach to Saint Paul de Vence, Grasse etc or a sporting activity such as horse riding, rafting, a diving course or hiking trip (all at extra cost).
For those who want to explore Nice's night life we recommend sampling the pubs in old Nice and experiencing the Mediterranean atmosphere of this wonderful city.
A sample of a week's cultural programme:
Sunday: Arrival in Nice and transfer to accommodation.
Monday: Guided visit of the old city with the college.
Tuesday: Free afternoon (to shop & explore or (if warm enough) hit the beach.
Wednesday: Free afternoon with Salsa lesson in the evening.
Thursday: Bowling with the college in the evening.
Friday: Free afternoon (to shop & explore or (if warm enough) hit the beach.
Saturday: Excursion to Monaco & Oceanographic museum or a trip to Cannes or the Iles de Lerins.
