Spanish & Flamenco

An intense, passionate dance form with an emotional focus that feeds on improvisation.  Dancers talk of the "dunde" - the spirit that enters them as they near exhaustion: this spirit is said to take control of the body, making each performance unique and a spontaneous expression of the moment's emotions.

Three elements make up the dance

1/ the staccato steps of the dance,
2/ the singer's passion and
3/ the driving force of the guitar.

The Flamenco dance is performed with passion, fervour, even tortured expressions, but always strives for grace and dignity. The dancer beats his or her heels from a gentle whisper to a frenzy while clapping to define the rhythm or curving arms to create elegant patterns in the air.

You too can study this wonderful dance form, in combination with your Spanish studies in any one of the following locations:

    Madrid  :  Seville  :  Granada  :  Marbella  :  Malaga

The schools in Madrid, Seville and Granada work in-conjunction with local Dance Studios so that students of dance can either join a group class or take private dance classes.  In Marbella, group Flamenco classes take place in the language college buildings.  The college in Malaga has it's own dance studio, where a qualified dance tutor takes either Sevillianas or Salsa classes depending on the start date.

Students should bring their own flamenco shoes, skirt & leotard (if applicable) or allow a budget of 90.00 Euros to purchase these items.
