French & Fun Courses: Cannes

Antibes    Hyeres    Cannes
The French & Fun language programmes are ideal for those looking to revise their French language skills, previously studied in the UK.  Emphasis is placed on oral skills and developing higher levels of confidence.  CESA students really enjoy putting their French into practise and love the social environment, with its international mix of students.

Cannes Teenage French Course :
15 / 18+ years of age

The French language college in Cannes offers French language courses with other language students, 50% of who are teenagers (15/19yrs of age) whilst the other 50% of the students are 20yrs or older.  French language classes are all divided according to language level and nationality mix first, and age similiarity second.  Students are immersed in France, speaking French with native French speaking teachers and are encouraged to socialise and make the most of their time in France.

The French language programme in Cannes, is more academically based that the classes held in the other French and Fun language colleges, but are still designed to stimulate student interest and to keep the language lessons dynamic.  Optional social activities provide contrast and bring an additional element of fun to the overall programme.

The French language college staff are aware that the students are on holiday and will do all they can to help students enjoy their French experience, both in and outside the classroom.

Course Description
Teenage language students love to learn French in the wonderful campus college environment in Cannes. This language college is highly regarded and always becomes fully booked during July and August - so early reservations are recommended. The town is famous for its international film festival in May. During the summer months enjoy the bustle of the central zone and promenade along the Croisette or the long golden sandy beaches for which the town is best known.

The Cannes French language college has an excellent academic record and is a year round language college for students aged 16yrs+, during the summer 50% of the student body will be 15/19yrs of age. There are a superb range of facilities; both in terms of French language learning (a computer room, a college theatre on site and a well stocked library) and generally (a small gym on campus, a nurse on site, a cafeteria, a table tennis, volleyball and basket ball area, a central private courtyard, private sun bathing terrace and student bar), that few other French colleges can match. It is also just a stone's throw away from the beach and a 10/15 minute stroll along the seafront to the centre of Cannes.

Language students can follow a two week (or longer) French course, in this beautiful Rivieria location. The course is appropriate for teenagers who are independent, and mature enough not to require constant direction from group leaders. Students can choose from three course options, all of which will cover general French language skills, appropriate to different French ability levels.

Although the close proximity of the beach and the on site sports facilities tend to encourage most students to make their own entertainment out of class.

Accommodation
Students can stay with local hosts on a B&B basis or live on campus.
As some 85% of students live on campus we recommend this option.

Campus option: Shared room (2, 3 or 4 per room) on campus, half-board (breakfast and lunch at the colelge cafeteria) with the option to purchase evening meals on site when you wish or the chance to go into Cannes to eat Pizza with new found friends when so inclined! Full-board also available. Bathrooms are along the corridor, there is no air conditioning and rooms do not have telephones.
Students can stay in single rooms (but pay extra for this option).

Going out Permission
Teenagers aged 15/17yrs old will need a signed parental permission to be able to go out in the evenings. This applies up to 00.30 midnight, during the week and until 01.00hrs at the weekend, otherwise students are NOT allowed out in the evenings, after the evening meal. French language students, over 18 years of age are not subject to parental permission rules.
NB: Parents cannot set alternative curfews as the college is unable to police them.

Travel
Arrive: Sunday
Depart: Saturday AM

Fly to Nice and take the shuttle bus to Cannes or the college arranged transfer service from Nice airport. Please budget for a transfer fee of 25/40 Euros. The exact cost depends on the number of students collected from Nice airport when you arrive, and the college aim to keep these costs to a minimum for students. The return travel is made by taxi, generally with others returning to Nice on Saturday, and is organised once in Cannes.
If you are not starting your course on a main session date, please discuss travel options with CESA.
