Student Reports: Ski Instructors Course
Peter Tupper / Kitzbuhel
German & Ski Instructors 12 week Course
in Kitzbuhel, Austria Sept/Dec which he followed with a full working ski season in Austria through to the following April.
"I wanted to get better at German and qualify as a snowboard instructor. I found the teaching very good and felt that nothing much could be done to improve it. The teachers were friendly, approachable and helped us out a lot with general stuff like where to go, organised transport for skiing, gave us a guitar to use and advice on lots of things.
I really liked the people on my course. They were nice guys and all my age group. We had a good social life because there was a great group of people on the course who all got on really well and had parties together which was great.
I found the course length of 12 weeks worked for me. I'm glad I went for the Instructor's qualification, it was very satisfying to have a target at the end of the course. I ended up getting the Skiing Instructor qualification as well as the Snow boarding one, otherwise it would have been hard to get a job afterwards, there is far more demand for Skiing Instructors than for Snow boarders but I am extremely glad I did it and would definately recommend that people do it.
Spending so long learning a language is something more British people should do, and is an invalubale skill for the future. Don't expect to make a fortune out of Instructing after the course though, but the Instructor qualification was the best part of the course for me and it's amazing being able to earn money by skiing every day."
