Learn Spanish in Madrid and combine your studies with Spanish History & Art, Spanish literature or some Flamenco lessons. Madrid, home to 5 million inhabitants is the capital of Spain, set high in the centre of the country and is a city of fabulous contrasts. Famed for the magnificence of its Bourbon architecture, its many bars and restaurants, fantastic and world renowned museums and it’s old town, Madrid appeals to all tastes and interests.
The “Madrilenos” live at a fast pace year round and in particular love their night life, from the top flamenco clubs to local taverns, bars and restaurants (that won’t become active until 11.00 at night). With a winter temperature that only occasionally drops below freezing and a summer temperature that can reach 35oC, Madrid has a dry continental climate.
The high quality of the public transport system in Madrid makes it one of the easiest and most pleasant capital cities in Europe to travel around. Historically Madrid came to pre-eminence after 1561 under Phillip II and many of the 16th century buildings of this period; red tiled roofed homes, courtyards and churches that can still be seen today around the central Plaza Mayor, now famed for its outdoor cafes and shops.
