Social Activities in Madrid

Student in market in MadridAll students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Madrid by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the college.

Various events are offered by the college on a weekly or fortnightly basis; cultural and business Spanish lessons (in addition to the main language courses), one full day excursion i.e. Toledo, Segovia etc, a weekly guided tour to one of Madrid's famous museums and a weekly social evening to enable the students to meet and get to know each other.

Madrid's museums are world class, the Prado and Reina Sofia are "must sees" if you love Art, a wide range of theatres and cinemas thrive in the city. For shopping Madrid is a paradise, luxury goods abound in the Salamanca district, leather good and shoes are to be found around Gran Via and Puerta del Sol right through to the bargains of the famous flea market, "El Rasto". Food is taken very seriously and there are more than 3000 restaurants to chose from, satisfying every style, taste and budget.

Partying in Madrid

For those who want to explore Madrid's nightlife (expect to see thousands of people, hundreds of bars, traffic jams at 4am, lights and noise). We recommend the bars and restaurants in the student area of "Arguelles" and "Moncloa", and "Huertas" for a range of bars to sample. There are several flamenco clubs and nightclubs around the city where you can party until 6 AM.

Sunday:   Arrival in Madrid
Monday:   Cultural lesson. "Literatura Hispanoamericana"
Tuesday:   Commercial Spanish lesson. Spanish video: "Tacones Lejanos". Pedro Almodovar.
Wednesday:   Guided visit to one of Madrid's museums, i.e. El Prado.
Thursday:   Commercial Spanish lesson. School arranged party for all students.
Friday:   Cultural lesson. "Toros"
Saturday:   Full day excursion by coach: "Toledo".
