Social Activities in Chania
All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Chania by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the college.
An example of a week’s cultural programme:
Monday: Practice in the Computer room
Tuesday: Watch a video
Wednesday: Visit to a museum
Thursday: Practice in the Computer room
Friday: Meal in a traditional restaurant
Activities outside of college:
Whilst in Chania, you must explore the waterfront and streets; take a walk along the harbour wall to the Venetian Lighthouse. Visit the wonderful “Maritime Museum”, it delivers a superb introduction to the History of Crete and is by no means only for maritime mavens. You will learn more here in half an hour than most could teach you, about the events that filled Crete’s moving past. The “archaeological museum” on Halidon street is also worth a visit and accessible to non-archaeologists.
Outside Chania; trips to the many surrounding monastries, the “Samaria Gorge”, “Venizelos Graves” and visit nearby villages where the old men talk, argue, discuss, play cards at their local café or simply find a stretch of beach and immerse the cares of yesterday in the waters of today. If you have children with you, you may want to treat them to a visit to the water park at Limnoupolis.
