All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Montpellier by participating in a range of social activities including guided excursions and activities offered by the college.
The college organises activities such as: karaoke nights, visits to bars and restaurants, museums, cinemas, theatre and concerts. Day excursions to Pont du Gard, Camargue and Provence and half-day excursions to St. Guilhem, Carcassonne, Aigues-Mortes, Nîmes (Amphitheatre) and the famous source of the “Perrier” water and bottle factory.
An example of a week’s cultural programme:
Tuesday: Guided tour of the historic centre, you will discover the historic centre with its numerous private mansions, its picturesque streets and squares. You will learn about the history of Montpellier and will also get many tips on where to go for meals, bars, cinema and theatre.
Wednesday: The Agropolis Museum, this scientific museum offers interesting insight into the nutrition of human beings in the past as well as a prediction for the future. The cyber museum offers a multimedia space with access to many libraries throughout France.
Thursday: Soiréé Crepes: “Le Kreisker” is a typical Crepes restaurant at the Place de la Comedie where one can try various “galettes” with interesting toppings: e.g. salmon – artichoke, sardine – tomato. The more classis sweet crepes are also very tasty: Apple – Caramel, melted chocolate, cherry.
Saturday: Excursion to Camargue: You will discover Aigues-Mortes, an old fortress dating back to the 13th century. This fortress is next to fascinating salt lagoons with its wild pink flamingos. Afterwards we will have a picnic on the beach, at the sand dunes of l`Espiguette. After the picnic we will drive to “Les Saintes Maries de la Mer”, capital of the Camargue and also to l`etang du Vaccares (salt lagoon) where you can observe the beautiful nature of this famous area for pink flamingos, wild horses and torros. You can discover the town, rent a bicycle, go to the beach or take a guided horseback riding tour (the best way to see the beautiful surroundings). Take your picnic and a swimming suit!
