Ms Lamb – Italian Over 50s course in Siena

Study Italian in SienaI was hoping for an intensive course with a lot of practice in listening and speaking and ideally a nice friendly atmosphere and some enjoyable tours with like-minded people.  Thankfully I can say that all of these goals were realised!

I was exceedingly challenged by the standard of the lessons and it took 2 to 3 days to understand the tutor.  The lessons were well presented, lively and enjoyable but a little more simple explanation would have been appreciated.  I felt we were always progressing at the rate of the quickest but nevertheless it was good for me to work hard and the homework was very useful. Adrian is a Doctor, in his early 60′s, who speaks some German and wanted to improve his Italian and he loves Italy and wanted to get the most from his visits to the country. He decided to follow a two week programme at elementary level in the wonderful mediaeval city of Siena.

“I wanted intensive tuition programme in both grammar and conversation and to have two glorious weeks in Siena. My expectations were definitely met. The lessons were excellent; and our teacher managed to stick to the programme whilst also adjusting to our individual needs. Read More »

David: 3 weeks Standard Course

David, in his early 60′s was looking for a short Italian course week programme, suitable for a beginner.
He was studying a language abroad for the first time.

“I found the whole experience very enjoyable. It was the first time I had taken this type of trip and I would definitely go again, perhaps to a different part of Italy next time.  The help and assistance I received from CESA Languages staff, was excellent. From making the enquiry by telephone I was booked on the course and informed within a couple of hours. Read More »

Rosie: 2 weeks Intensive Course

Two week Intensive programme prior to going to University. She already had good Italian and French but wanted to hone her skills, before starting University.

“I expected to improve any spoken Italian by growing in confidence during the course. I certainly feel more confident when I speak, but hindsight tells me that 2 weeks was perhaps not long enough for me to progress as much as I would have liked to.
I thought that the lessons were taught in a good style with a lot of student participation. The teachers were all very nice; they were especially kind to me when I felt a little wobbly in the first week. The school situation was also very convenient.
The best part of my course was the language lessons-playing games like “taboo” (unfortunately there was no alcohol involved). I also felt that the private lessons were extremely useful.
The school provided a very good amount of information on Siena. I felt very safe whilst exploring the entertainment in the city and the locals were very friendly and always willing to stop and speak. Siena is fairly small so it wasn’t very daunting for a younger student. I really enjoyed going out for a couple of drinks with my friends, there are some delightful bars with really good atmosphere.
My host family were very welcoming and accommodating. They served me some wonderful food and the apartment was very comfortable. At the weekend they took me to a lake and were the ideal hosts for a younger student such as myself.
CESA were extremely helpful at all stages of course and I would love to go back to Siena – Thanks CESA!”
